Soaring Interest in River Cruising

The three main river cruise companies, Viking River Cruises, Avalon Waterways, and AmaWaterways, have experienced doubling in their capacity within the last five years.  This is due to building more ships and an increased number of travelers who want to really explore the ports of call.  This is a much more intimate way to travel due to the fewer number of passengers as well as the rivers themselves.  To be floating down the Rhine in Germany looking at castles is one of the most relaxing ways to travel.  As a the owner of Viking River Cruises likes to say, “Ocean cruising is a drinking man’s cruise, and river cruising is a thinking man’s cruise.”
